The Badalisc is a mythical creature from the Val Carmonica that is represented as a creature with a big head covered with a goat skin, two small horns, a huge mouth and glowing red eyes
Origin
In the Val Camonica, a valley in the central Italian Alps region, there is a local celebration which is connected to a legend about a mythical monster. This monster is the Badalisc, a creature with a huge head and large mouth, adorned with two tiny horns and two brightly glowing eyes.
According to the local legend, the terrible Badalisc lived in the woods around Andrista (a small village). Actually, ‘terrible’ is an overstatement, it did little harm but it did constantly annoy the locals. As punishment, the beast was captured, as the locals used a beautiful girl as bait to trap and capture the lusty beast. It was fought by a hunchbacked folk hero.
