The Boneless is a cryptid reported in the United Kingdom.
Description
The sighting occurred sometime in the 1950s, in one theory in September of 1950.
That day, John Davies, who worked for the railroad, had finished his day's work and was heading home in Longdendale on his motorcycle. While he was on his way, he felt the need to stop his motorcycle for some reason. Then he saw a huge black slug-like creature, making a scraping sound, crossing the road and heading toward the marsh. The overall impression was of a black slug, but its head resembled a whale, with dark pupils circling in its white eyes.
Davies later learned that someone he knew had seen a similar creature in the valley below Ogden Clough and at the same location where Davies had seen it.
If the sighting had been true, the Boneless would have been a vertebrate despite its name, since it is difficult for an extremely large invertebrate of the type that has neither an exoskeleton nor an endoskeleton to be active satisfactorily on land. Cryptozoologist Karl Shuker thought it was not an animal but a seemingly animal-like supernatural entity, a zooform phenomenon.
